UNEB A-LEVELS: 97,980 Candidates Begin Their 2022 UACE Papers

Assessment body Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) has this morning started conducting its final set of national exams, the A-level papers that will lead to the award of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).

The first set was the O-level examinations (Senior Four) which ended last week. There was then the two-day Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) which ended recently. About 23 PLE candidates had missed their Mathematics Paper but Education Minister and First Lady Janet Museveni has ordered Uneb to give them a special paper. (See Details Here).

Now, Uneb has started conducting the last set of examinations. Last Friday was the official briefing of candidates and the weekend was full of dedication services and masses.

Writing of papers has begun this Monday, November 21, 2022 morning and will end of December 09, 2022. A total of 97,890 candidates were registered to sit the examination from 2,255 Examination Centres. Of these, 57,177 or 68 per cent of the candidates are males, while 40,718 or about 42 per cent are females.

The candidates have started with Economics Paper One and the Chemistry Practical Paper this morning and will sit their Economics Paper II in the afternoon. The full UACE timetable is Here.

Like the last series of examinations, the UACE examination will be conducted under the same theme ‘Integrity and security in the management of examinations; the health and safety of learners is a joint responsibility,’ said Uneb in a statement, before warning candidates against engaging in acts of examination malpractice.

“The Board strongly warns against involvement in any form of examination malpractice.-Anyone found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the UNEB Act 2021. The public is urged to desist from participating in any form of examination malpractice, including the electronic transmission of what may be purported to be a UNEB examination paper, material, information or any part of the examination paper,” the Uneb statement further read.

“Section 36 of the Act provides that any person who aids, abets, induces or incites another person to do, or does an act in a manner that facilitates the commission of an offence under the Act, commits an offence and is liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding two thousand currency pointe (40 million shillings) or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding ten years or both, as provided for in Section 25 (2). This penalty will apply, whether the examination paper, examination material, or information transmitted is genuine or not. Candidates and all concerned must note that involvement in malpractice in one paper shall lead to the cancellation of results of the whole examination.”
