SENIOR FIVE CUT OFF POINTS 2024: The selection exercise for Senior Five class of 2024 has today entered into its second day at the UMA Show Grounds in Kampala, with some traditional and top performing schools admitting a little more students and most of them raising their cutoff points (in terms of aggregate scores of UCE 2023) compared to the previous year.
School heads from a little over 2,000 schools — 870 government-owned and about 1200 private schools — across the country are attending the selection exercise.
They are expected to pick about 236,300 candidates to join their schools, leaving about 93,700 who passed their UCE 2023 exams — according to Uneb’s standard of Grade (Division) IV score.
The options available for those who will miss out on placement from A-level schools are the public and private Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. Government runs about 87 TVET instititions while the rest, about 700, are run by private players.
The selection exercise for those seeking admission to TVET institutions is happening at four regional centres: Kakiika Technical Institute in Mbarara City for Western Uganda, Ntinda Vocational Training Institute for Central Uganda, Bobi Community Polytechnic in Omoro District for Northern Uganda and St Kizito Technical Institute Madera for Eastern Uganda.
Back to Senior Five Cutoff points 2024, most schools have raised their cutoffs. As expected, the affirmative action for girls remains.
