Museveni Gives Eddy Kenzo His First Assignment as Senior Advisor on Creatives

As the newly appointed senior presidential advisor on creatives, Eddy Kenzo has got his first assignment from President Yoweri Museveni.

And the president hopes to use what Eddy Kenzo, the BET award winner, will submit in his assignment report to take action in as far as efforts meant to streamline Uganda’s creative industry is concerned.

Husband to national female youth MP and junior minerals minister Phiona Nyamutoro, Eddy Kenzo is also the president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) under which a considerable number of the country’s musicians are members.

Describing itself as the “dynamic and vibrant organization dedicated to promoting, supporting, and advocating for the musical arts in Uganda,” Eddy Kenzo’s UNMF seeks to unite and developing the music industry.

In his first meeting with Museveni as the senior presidential advisor on creatives, Eddy Kenzo ensured that some members of his UNMF group attended a meeting to discuss music industry issues with the fountain of honor.

In the meeting that took place at State House Entebbe, Museveni and the artists discussed how copyright legislations can transform the arts in the country.

The president then tasked Eddy Kenzo to consult experts on issues such as copyright and brief him so that he can take further action.

“I had a productive meeting with The Uganda National Musicians Federation group at State House Entebbe this week. We had a good discussion on the rich history of our country’s politics and economy, as well as important discussions around copyright law and its implications,” noted Museveni.

“I have asked Eddy Kenzo to coordinate further discussions with technical experts as my advisor on creatives.”

Lucky for Eddy Kenzo, he has got a chance to meet the man he is supposed to advise – unlike others presidential advisors who have to struggle to meet Museveni. Although he is not yet one of the most powerful presidential advisors, maybe – just maybe – he has a chance. (See Details Here and There).

But as some have expressed concerns over his education, it remains to be seen how Eddy Kenzo will hold discussions with technical experts as he has been assigned. (Read related story Here).
