More details have emerged on the murder of Bukwo District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Charles Ogwang.

CAO Ogwang succumbed to gunshot injuries and the car in which he was travelling in July 08 night was burnt to ashes.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) deputy spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the CAO’s vehicle “later caught fire” in the incident that was reported to Police by locals at 11:09pm on July 08.

That locals had heard gunshots at Kiryowa, Mabanda, Bombo Road near Banu Petrol Station.

“The officers from Both Matugga and Kasangati police stations rushed to the scene only to find the car on fire . The Police fire prevention and rescue services  responded and managed to extinguish the burning vehicle,” added Owoyesigyire.

According to the KMP deputy police publicist, the people who arrived at the scene of crime are the ones who drove Ogwang to hospital where he died at about 4am on July 09.

“It is alleged that while Ogwang Charles Chief Administrative officer Bukwo was travelling in the said motor vehicle, unidentified assailants shot at him several times causing injuries to him,” noted Owoyesigyire.

“First responders from a near by clinic had to  rush him to Bombo Military Hospital where he succumbed to the bullet injuries  this morning at around 4am.”

The police publicist also added that “an inquiry has kicked off to investigate the murder with hope of identifying the assailants and knowing their motive,” and that more details will be communicated as they become available “in due course.”
