Uganda Police Force (UPF) has confirmed the arrest of the driver of murdered Bukwo District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Charles Ogwang.

Ogwang was shot by unknown criminals late July 09 night and his official vehicle burnt. The acting CAO was said to be heading to Lira after reportedly attending meetings in Kampala.

He later breathed his last at the Bombo Military Hospital where he had been rushed for medical attention following the shooting that shocked the nation.

Now, Uganda Police Force (UPF) spokesperson Fred Enanga has revealed that as part of efforts to investigate the shocking shooting of Bukwo acting Bukwo District Ogwang, the driver of the former chief administrative officer has been arrested to help with the probe into the murder.

Eric Chemusto, the driver who is said to have travelled from Bukwo to Mbale in a government vehicle registration number UG 0685Z on July 08, is one of the four suspects who have been arrested.

The second of the four suspects, Enanga continued, was arrested after UPF’s response teams from Gombe Police Post conducted a search in the area.

According to the police publicist, the motive of the murder remains unknown to investigators.

As we recently reported, a month before he was murdered, acting CAO Ogwang had been reported to Raphael Magyezi’s Local Government Ministry, and the Bukwo District LCV Chairman had threatened to go on strike if he (Ogwang) was not fired. (Read Story Here and There).
