Private Sector Foundation of Uganda (PSFU) Executive Director Gideon Badagawa has succumbed to Covid19.

Doctors at the Mulago National Referral Hospital pronounced Badagawa dead June 21 morning after days of hospitalization.

A statement by PSFU confirmed Badagawa’s death.

He was aged 54.

PSFU added that Badagawa’s wife Susan Birungi was also battling Covid19 after she lost her father a week ago.

“The Board, Management and Staff of the Private Sector Foundation of Uganda (PSFU), with deep sorrow regret to announce the untimely death of their Executive Director, Mr. Gideon Badagawa, who passed away this morning Monday June 21st, 2021, in Mulago Hospital,” read the statement issued by PSFU board of directors chairman Elly Karuhanga in part.

“As you may know, his wife, Mrs. Susan Birungi Badagawa has also been battling for her life alongside her husband in hospital and only last week lost her father to Covid19.”

The family asked for privacy in this trying time, and to shield Birungi Badagawa from the consequences of such devastating news when she is fighting for her own life.

Badagawa had extensive experience in private sector organization work and public service.

He had spent 10 years at PSFU, before which he was executive director at Uganda Manufacturers Association (Uma).

He also served as a member on several boards, including: Board of National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), Board of Uganda Energy Credit Capitalization Company Limited, Board of Uganda National Planning Authority (NPA), Board of Uganda Warehouse Receipts Authority (UWRA), and Board of the Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC).
