Ahead of Uganda’s 60th Independence anniversary, Buganda Kingdom monarch Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II appeared addressed his subjects on October 08, 2022 (Bulungi bwa Bwa Nsi Day). But the address raised concerns on the health of the Kabaka, with some calling on Kingdom Prime Minister Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga to ensure that the king gets proper treatment.

But the Kabaka went out at the weekend and a photo from his trip was shared by the Buganda Kingdom and its officials such as Katikkiro Mayiga. The kabaka looked healthier than he appeared for his Bulungi bwa Nsi address, pointing to the fact that his doctors were doing a good job.

The king was seen at the beach ‘eating life.’ He was pictured at the Botanical Gardens in Entebbe where he was in company of DJ Dedan. “Omuteregga, yasiimye n’alambula olubalama lw’ennyanja Nnalubaale, mu ngeri ey’okwewummuzaamu. Awo yabadde ku Botanical Gardens, e Ntebe, gye yasanze musajjawe DJ. Dedan, n’asiima okwekubya naye ebifaananyi,” Katikkiro Mayiga wrote in Luganda, to mean that the Kabaka had chosen to go out for leisure at the Entebbe-based Botanical Gardens where he found DJ Dedan and chose to took photos with him.

It has also emerged that Kabaka Ronald Mutebi was also a visitor at the Entebbe Zoo, officially called Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre (Uwec). The zoo’s executive director James Musinguzi welcomed the king to the Entebbe zoo. Other top Uwec officials present when the Kabaka, who was in company of other royal family members, visited included board boss Ssebina Katumba and David Musingo, the Manager in charge of Conservation education.

The kabaka was seen feeding animals including giraffes, elephants and chimpanzees. For example, he fed an elephant named Pragna Nyakato some milk.

It should be remembered that besides his health condition which had worried his subjects, the Kabaka has also been facing trouble from some ‘big-headed’ groups that have been threatening to break away from Buganda in order to form two separate kingdoms of Kooki and Ssese.
