Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga used his address to Lukiiko (Kingdom Parliament) to update Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s subjects on the king’s health.

Last month, Kabaka Mutebi II appeared for his 66th birthday celebration appearing sick.

Days later, Katikkiro Mayiga told Buganda Kingdom the Kabaka was suffering from allergies.

The kingdom prime minister also ruled out poisoning as cause of the king’s condition.

Yet some Baganda have insisted the Kabaka needs to be flown abroad for specialized treatment.

Some have also called for the sacking of Mayiga, who marks eight years as Katikkiro on May 11.

Mayiga has once again assured Buganda the king’s health condition is not worrying.

“I want to assure you that the Kabaka’s health condition is being handled by doctors with the required expertise and qualifications. We are optimistic he will overcome the disease that ails him, he wi heal,” the Katikkiro told Lukiiko on May 10.

I am glad to inform you that His Majesty the Kabaka is in the palace reigning over Buganda Kingdom and he has asked me to wish the Lukiiko fruitful deliberations.”
