President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has appointed six of his senior ministers dropped from cabinet as his special advisors.

Museveni dropped a total of 33 ministers from his 2016-2021 cabinet, according to analysis done by The Pearl Times News desk.

Some 13 of these are cabinet (senior) ministers.

As some kind of consolation, Museveni appointed outgoing Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda (replaced by Robinah Nabbanja) his special envoy for special duties in the office of the president.

He then appointed former trade, industry and cooperatives minister Amelia Anne Kyambadde his senior presidential advisor in charge of industries.

Beti Kamya, the former lands, housing and urban development minister, who also previously served as Kampala minister, will now be the senior presidential advisor on lands.

Outgoing justice and constitutional affairs minister Prof Ephraim Kamuntu is now senior presidential advisor on economic and manifesto implementation, former junior minister for the disabled and elderly (also former deputy Kampala Lord Mayor) Sarah Kanyike is the senior presidential advisor on Kampala.

Museveni’s bush war comrade and former security minister Gen Elly Tumwine will become the senior presidential advisor on security.
