President Yoweri Museveni has revealed how he would want money from Uganda’s oil and gas sector to be spent.

In a meeting with the Energy Year’s Government Relations Director, Brindusa Negrea, Museveni said funds from oil will help government to create jobs and related infrastructure like pipelines, refinery and other downstream developments which will add to the economy.

“Oil is an infinite resource. We shall use the oil money on durable capacity including modernizing our railway and other infrastructure to improve transportation,” he said.

Negrea gave Museveni the first edition of a magazine, ‘The Energy Year Uganda 2021,’ a special edition exploring the unlocking of Uganda’s energy industry potential and was produced in partnership with State House and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.

The Energy Year’s Government Relations Director Negrea was quoted by PPU as saying that the publication highlights the opportunities that Uganda has to offer in the energy sector.

She added that the magazine analyses the latest developments and future prospects of the country’s up-and-coming oil and gas industry, as well as its linkages with the power sector and wider economy. The book also portrays the projects championed by the key players of the Ugandan energy value chain.

The “Energy Year Uganda 2021” also features maps showing Uganda’s oil and gas licences and their status and featuring the ground-breaking East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) infrastructure.
