Mathias Mpuuga Announces #MpuugaIsMyLeader Thanksgiving Mass after Bobi Wine Shook Masaka

Former leader of opposition (LoP) and embattled commissioner of parliament Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba has announced he will hold a thanksgiving mass to thank God for his life. But dubbed #MpuugaIsMyLeader, the thanksgiving mass is being seen as an event to show National Unity Platform (NUP) and its leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

Bobi Wine recently shook Masaka on his consultative rally before police suspended his meetings for disrupting traffic and over a road accident.

Mpuuga, a member of NUP, skipped the Masaka rally, one of the biggest Bobi Wine has ever held since he came on the political scene in 2017.

NUP has not only fired Mpuuga as the party’s deputy president for central region (Buganda) but also disowned him as a commissioner of parliament over a Shs500m cash award.

Woes between Bobi Wine and Mpuuga emerged before his sacking from his LoP role months ago, with reports claiming there was a rift between the two NUP principals.

Bobi Wine fired Mpuuga and replaced him with youthful first time MP Joel Ssenyonyi as the new leader of opposition. (See Details Here and There).

Mpuuga refused to resign his commissioner job and said he would not leave NUP. (See Details Here and There)

THANKSGIVING MASS

Mpuuga has now organized a thanksgiving mass with the intention of appreciating God for his life.

The thanksgiving mass will happen on June 21 at Kitovu Sports Arena starting at 10am, according to a notice by Mpuuga.

The notice, in a color different from the usual NUP red, the hashtags #MpuugaIsMyLeader and #MpuugaYeWaffe are evident.

The thanksgiving mass announcement comes as a motion to remove Mpuuga and other commissioners over their cash award is ongoing.

At least 145 MPs have signed a censure motion for the removal of Mpuuga and his colleagues. (See names of MPs who have signed the censure motion Here).
