Zari questions Bobi Wine’s readiness, credentials to rule Uganda

Socialite Zari Hassan has raised questions on whether Bobi Wine has the credentials to be Uganda’s president.

Bobi Wine is the official People Power pressure group’s presidential flag bearer.

The singer-turned-politician joined elective politics in 2017 when he won the Kyadondo East by-election.

He is one of the over 40 aspirants that have expressed interest in challenging President Yoweri Museveni in next year’s poll.

Others are Prophet Elvis Mbonye’s anointed Pastor Joseph Kabuleta and former army commander Maj Gen (Rtd) Mugisha Muntu.

But Zari says Ugandans should refrain from excitement and look at whether Bobi Wine has what it takes to occupy the country’s top office.

She advised against the reasoning by some Ugandans who say they are tired of President Yoweri Museveni and anyone can replace him.

Museveni has ruled Uganda since 1986.

Court recently upheld his party’s decision to endorse him as a sole candidate for the 2021 presidential race.

“We don’t want to say that we want Bobi Wine to be President because we want something new. Ok, there has to be credentials for a Presidential candidate,” said Zari.

“The question is: is he ready to lead a country? Does he have Presidential credentials? So who now becomes next Presidential candidate?”

She claimed that most Ugandans “have never taken time ask to themselves that question but they just shout People Power or NRM. Me I have no side.”
