You’re playing with fire! Angry Salaamu Musumba warns rival Kadaga & her supporters over mob justice threats

Former Kamuli District Woman MP contestant Proscovia Salaamu Musumba has accused Speaker Rebecca Kadaga of being behind the mob that has threatened her life over her decision the challenge the January 14 vote results in court.

Last week, Musumba, through her Lawyers Galisonga and Company Advocates and Isabirye and Company Advocates petitioned the High Court of Jinja to nullify Kadaga’s victory over electoral irregularities.

In her petition, Musumba accuses the Electoral Commission of exhibiting bias while organizing the polls that were marred by violence and gross violation of the electoral laws.

“Your humble petitioner contends that in the conduct of the aforementioned elections, the 2nd respondent grossly failed in its constitutional duty of organizing a free and fair election, in that the agents refused to properly use biometric voter identification machines at most of polling stations,” reads part of the petition.

She also accused Kadaga of organizing violent groups to deface her campaign posters in Kamuli and using abusive language against her

“Organized violent groups to meet violence and/or threaten violence against the petitioner and her supporters and defaced campaign posters in Nabwigulu sub-county, Kmauli municipality, Kitayunywa sub-county, Magogo sub-county, Balawali sub-county and several other places in Kamuli district.”

As soon as the news of her filing the petition became public, hostile groups allegedly swung into action to threaten to harm Musumba and burn down her residences in both Kamuli Town and Namwendwa if she did not withdraw the petition against Kadaga.

“Let her not dare Mama Kadaga anymore. We voted for mama and challenging her victory is a direct provocation to the people of Kamuli. We shall show her the power of the people if she doesn’t reconsider her useless decision,” some angry youth leaders told local media.

However, Musumba told Pearl Times News she would not give in to intimidation, further telling this news website’s reporter she was aware mobs were being organized to intimidate her.

“I am warning this group not to dare me because they are playing with fire. They should know I am the mother of intimidation. I am a Musoga like them and I am made out of both iron and fire ingredients. Wait and see,” said Musumba.

She swore that she is the same woman who contested in the 1993 Constituency Assembly, the one that has been in politics for all these years and won’t ever change.
