National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has welcomed sanctions the US has slapped against commandant of Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) Maj Gen Abel Kandiho.
The sanctions were announced on December 07 by the US Treasury Department.
The Treasury said Kandiho was involved in acts of repression in Uganda.
According to Bobi Wine, Maj Gen Kandiho commanded ruthless operations and should be compelled to account for his actions.
“The CMI headed by Maj. Gen. Kandiho has presided over the most vile human rights violations. They have abducted, tortured and murdered Ugandans with impunity. Financial sanctions are welcome. Just one step. Museveni and his cronies will account for the atrocities,” said the NUP leader.
“This sends a clear message that Museveni regime enforcers will have to account for the atrocities commitment against our people. CMI, SFC, ISO, Military Police, LDU, Crime Preventers and Crime Intelligence have led the abductions, torture and murder in the name of Museveni.”
