Mathias Mpuuga, the leader of opposition in Parliament and Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s deputy for NUP in Buganda, has hit back at former Kawempe South Mubarak Munyagwa after the former FDC legislator and a staunch supporter of opposition kingpin Dr Kizza Besigye criticized the leading opposition party’s handling of crises in the country.
Munyagwa, who lost to NUP’s Bashir Kazibwe in the January 2021 parliamentary polls, argues that NUP is not clear about its action plan and has made it a habit to always act panicky to pretend that they know what to do in times of crisis in the country.
The former MP says the Bobi Wine-led party wants to ape Besigye.
Munyagwa also says a recent move by the opposition to walk out of Parliament was due to MP Abed Bwanika’s calls for dialogue so that detained MPs and supporters could be released. (Read story here).
Recently, Bwanika (Kimaanya-Kabonera – NUP) told Bobi Wine to hold talks with Museveni over detained supporters. (Read story here).
In his criticism of NUP, Munyagwa further alleged that NUP MPs are receiving huge sums of money from the ruling NRM government.
“Some have already bought houses in the US. They are heavily funded by the regime. It’s a pity,” claimed Munyagwa.
Now, in a response, Mpuuga has suggested Munyagwa could just be bitter that NUP’s Kazibwe beat him in he Kawempe South race.
He also punched holes in his tenure as chairperson of Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (Cosase)
“This one better be advised that NUP knows how to make him jobless and desperate!! A man who could not produce a committee report in 2 and a half years when he chaired COSASE needs to immediately shut up for his own good!” wrote Mpuuga.
