Newly elected Kasese Woman MP Florence Kabugho has warned Commander of Land Forces and UPDF representative in Parliament Lt Gen Peter Elwelu he will one day be punished for killing over 100 royal guards in a raid on Rwezururu Kingdom palace in 2016.
Both Gen Elwelu and Kabugho have taken oath of office as MPs.
Gen Elwelu said he had no regrets for butchering the Royal guards, labelling them ‘criminals who deserved death.’
Gen Peter Elwelu: God has sent me to Parliament to do His work
MP Kabugho has warned Elwelu that he might brag about making many wives widows and children orphans, but he would one day be punished for his crimes.
“People may be very quiet but they are very very hurt because of the atrocities that were committed altogether,” said Kabugho in response to Elwelu’s statements and unremorseful attitude.
“Someone cannot kill your mother, your sister, brother and you move on. We have no guns to use, we’re not going to incite violence, no.”
The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leaning MP expressed confidence in the law dealing with the general.
“But the law one time will catch up with him, I still insist that one time the law will catch up with him, the people of Kasese are very very bitter because of the atrocities committed onto them,” she said.
“We’re shedding tears because of our brothers and sisters killed. Many people have been left orphans, many people are widows.”
