Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju has warned local investors, including tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia that Ugandans will compel him to return all the properties and money that he reportedly acquired illegally, once President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s NRM government crumbles.
Addressing reporters at the weekly press conference held at the FDC’s Najjanankumbi-based headquarters, Ssemujju sounded a warning to Sudhir whom he accused of taking part in the looting of Uganda.
Ssemujju claimed that Sudhir fraudulently acquired Shimoni PTC and Shimoni Demonstration School land on which he built a building on which he mints billions from government in rent.
“Our warning also serves local investors who are partaking in the looting of our country. One such investor is Sudhir Rupaleria. Sudhir MUST be aware that all this money & Shimoni land will be recovered once the dictator falls. Sudhir fraudulently acquired more than 10m acres which housed Shimoni demonstration school and Shimoni PTC. He constructed there a 12-floor building and is charging the gov’t about Shs 15 billion per year,” said Ssemujju Nganda, who is also the Kira Municipality MP.
“Parliament alone which occupies six floors is paying Shs 8 billion and Shs 1 billion for parking. Ridiculous. That you pay for space and parking separately. That building also houses the Ministry of East African Affairs, the Equal Opportunities Commission and other government entities. Almost 90 per cent of the tenants are government institutions.”
Ssemujju also warned foreign investors signing controversial contracts in which he said Uganda was being robbed.
“People coming into Uganda please know, these contracts, will not be honoured once the country get rid of Museveni which is soon. At the moment the population is at gun point and contracts signed when the population is at gunpoint won’t be honoured,” said Ssemujju.
