YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN’T HIDE: Museveni Minister Norbert Mao Sends Clear Warning to His Enemies

Before he was appointed Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Democratic Party (DP) President General Norbert Mao had begun executing his plan to expose some opposition groups and politicians.

Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and his now main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) were some of the targets of Mao’s criticism.

In February 2022, Mao announced that his “war to cleanse the synagogue” was going to last at least two years.

He said he we was going to expose how corrupt and hypocritical masqueraders turn politics into a bastion for blackmail, slander and hate-mongering.

In July 2022, Mao met Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, Uganda’s President and the national chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM); signed a cooperation agreement and took up a new role as the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, a position that had remained vacant since June 2021 when the head of state and government fired Prof Ephraim Kamuntu in a reshuffle that signaled the beginning of a new term of office.

Mao’s new job was greeted with criticism and resistance from his DP Party, with some members saying he should have resigned his job as president general of one of the country’s oldest political parties before accepting to work with Museveni, Uganda’s longest serving post-independence ruler.

Critics also accused Mao of selling the Democratic Party to Museveni.

Now, having comfortably settled in his new ministerial office, Mao has vowed to expose the truth about those who have been vending lies about him.

“To those who have been telling LIES about ME, the time time has come to tell the TRUTH about YOU! You can run but you cannot hide! At any rate you cannot hide forever,” wrote the Museveni minister from Northern Uganda.

This threat came hours after Norbert Mao told a group of DP members opposed him that he would not allow them to turn the Democratic Party into a provincial party (probably meaning ‘into a Buganda party‘) and that he will not hand the same party to Kabaka Yekka wolves. (Read Story Here).
