Former speaker of Parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has demanded an apology from Pastor Robert Kayanja over comments he made about the 10th Parliament.
Kayanja, the lead pastor of Miracle Centre Cathedral Rubaga, recently told The New Vision that the 10th Parliament had let the country down in as far as Uganda’s oil journey is concerned.
“There was a chance to work hard and appropriate money to construct the country’s oil refinery, but [Parliament] did not,” the pastor was quoted as saying.
But according to Kadaga, the current minister for East African Community (EAC) Affairs, Pastor Kayanja’s allusion to a a ‘rejected’ budget for a refinery is meant to soil the image of the 10th Parliament.
Kadaga, also Kamuli District Woman MP, was speaker of the 10th Parliament. She now wants Kayanja to apologize to the nation.
“Pastor Kayanja, you owe an apology to the people of Uganda and the 10th Parliament whose legacy you are distorting,” said Kadaga.
“No Budget for a refinery was presented or rejected, please substantiate, which meeting, which sitting and which session this happened.”
