Uganda Airlines CEO Jennifer Bamuturaki Musiime has left Members of Parliament on the Public Accounts Committee on Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises in shock over her response on per diem money she took but did not do the assignment she was supposed to undertake.

CEO Bamuturaki was back in the Cosase committee to answer queries over her involvement in the mismanagement of the national carrier.

During her appearance before the committee on Tuesday, September 13, Bamuturaki had the task of explaining why she pocketed per diem for work she had failed to do.

Cosase committee chairperson Joel Ssenyonyi tasked the Uganda Airlines CEO to account for $12,750, which is about Shm50m, the per diem that she requisitioned for to travel to different countries.

Bamuturaki is said to have requisitioned for the money when she was still serving as the acting CEO in June 2021.

It later emerged that Bamuturaki had neither travelled to those countries nor refunded the Shs50m.

When tasked to respond to this allegation, Bamuturaki simply went into a long silence, leaving MPs in shock and committee chairperson Ssenyonyi pleading with her.

In the end, Ssenyonyi, who is the Nakawa West MP and spokesperson of main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP), ordered Bamuturaki to refund the money.

Bamuturaki has been in the news for the bad news, especially during the Cosase investigation.

A few days ago, a former Uganda Airlines Board Chairman exposed CEO Jennifer Bamuturaki’s dirty secrets, making it clear that Museveni made a big mistake to appoint her. (Read Story Here).

Before then, Bamuturaki’s supervisor Minister Gen Katumba Wamala had confessed that he had no powers to block Jennifer Bamuturaki’s appointment because it was an ‘order from above.’ (Read Story Here).
