We told you but you refused to listen: Amuriat’s FDC reminds Bobi Wine after Supreme Court petition ‘withdrawal’

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has reminded Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine of the times they warned him against trusting in government institutions, including the Supreme Court and the Electoral Commission (EC).

On Monday, Bobi Wine ordered his lawyers to withdraw his presidential election petition from the Supreme Court.

Bobi Wine, who polled 35 per cent of the just over 10 million votes cast in the January 14 election, wanted the court to cancel ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s victory.

But he now wants his case pulled out the highest court in the land over judges’ alleged bias.

As he announced his decision to withdraw the case on February 22, FDC trolled him for ignoring their advice.

“We might be lean, but our leadership shall be felt. We shall always provide wise counsel to this nation, it’s why we are the forum for democratic change. We thank our Party President Patrick Amuriat for leading Ugandans on never going back to Museveni’s court,” said the party in a tweet.

FDC spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda said

“These matters involve people’s lives: you must be very careful when making a decision. They went to court to seek justice, now they are saying it is not there,” noted Ssemujju.

“We told them it is not to go, they went. They will come to the same conclusion that the FDC made.”

Amuriat has also been quoted as saying, “Going to court in itself was a mistake to begin with. It was overrating the impartiality of the justice system in Uganda.”

“We actually had advised all those who intended to go to court to even try because we have an experience in these matters. It is like they [Bobi Wine and NUP] were not reading what happens in the courts.”
