WE KNOW YOU, SURRENDER OR WE’LL KILL YOU: Security Chief Sends Clear Warning to ‘Rebels’ Attacking Police Stations

As the investigation into an attack on the Busiika Police Station continues, a senior security chief has warned the criminals behind the attack to surrender, wait to be arrested or killed if they put up resistance. Deputy Inspector General of Police (D-IGP) Maj Gen Geoffrey Katsigazi Tumusiime says security agencies are well aware of who the attackers are and where they are.

Deputy Police Chief Maj Gen Katsigazi issued the warning and made the revelation during a tour of Luweero District where the attack happened about two weeks ago. The D-IGP’s tour included a visit to the Savannah Regional Police Headquarters and the Luweero Central Police Station (CPS).

The deputy IGP said the meetings was called to review the situation and discuss the way forward on handling the current security situation. He blamed the attack on gaps which included lack of alertness and delayed response. It should be remembered that two police officers were killed in the attack while a third one has since succumbed to the injuries sustained during the raid. Two guns were also grabbed by the attackers. (See Details Here).

Maj Gen Katsigazi vowed to make it difficult for anyone to attack a police post or officers. He also claimed that the investigators already have a lot of details about the people behind the attack, and told them to either surrender or wait to die.

“We are going to recover these guns and ensure that these people will either be arrested or killed: they are not going to escape from us. We have identified the saboteur groups and are closing in on them. We know where they are, we know who they are,” said Katsigazi in his brief to reporters gathered at the Luweero Diocese Guest House following a meeting with the district security officials.

“We want to make it very expensive and costly to attack any security installation and the general public. We have information on their operations and financiers. We have already arrested some suspects and they will soon be paraded. We lost our officers and four guns during the Luweero attacks. This must not happen again.”

The Deputy Police Chief also explained why some police posts are being closed and officers withdrawn. He noted that there will be a merger of police posts to strengthen them and to make them less dangerous for officers.

According to Katsigazi, unlike previously where there were about three officers at a police post, a number that organized criminals would easily overpower and steal guns, the merged police stations will have a minimum of 15 personnel equipped with motorcycles and vehicles, and will ensure motorized patrols and the foot patrols.

It should be remembered that following the Busiika Police Station attack, the administration of Uganda Police Force started closing some police posts and withdrawing police officers. (See Details Here).

Days after the attack at Busiika, 10 people from former minister and NRA bush war hero Hajj Abdul Nadduli’s family were arrested by CMI operatives early in the morning over claims that they had taken part in the Busiika attack and that they were hiding guns in their homes. But there was shock as CMI operatives revealed that a Nadduli family member misled the security agency by telling them lies. (See Details Here and There).

There was also a raid on Maj (Rtd) Kakooza Mutale’s firm as a senior UPDF officer led a team that had come to arrested suspected rebels at the farm. But Kakooza Mutale made a phone call to ‘someone above’ and the senior army officer and his team left. (See Details Here).
