Kilak North MP Anthony Akol of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has fired back at Leader of Opposition in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga (Nyendo-Mukungwe – NUP) over the boycott of Parliament.
Last week, Mpuuga led opposition MPs in a walkout of Parliament over alleged human rights violations. (Read story here).
The boycott was supposed to continue into this week and the following one.
But Mpuuga expressed shock that Akol had remained in the House.
As expected of almost NUP members, Mpuuga, whose office is funded by the tax payers through the NRM government, quickly accused Akol of siding with ‘the oppressors.’
“While we agreed to boycott plenary over the Human Rights situation in the country, Hon Anthony Akol stands out as the lone Opposition Member siding with the oppressor. We shall know them by their actions!” said Mpuuga.
And Akol fired back at the NUP Buganda leader for lacking focus.
“The leader of opposition lacks focus. l and Hon Akello Lucy Woman MP Amuru District consulted him that we have issues of Acholi sub region in house i.e. Apaa Land conflict, cattle rustling and issues of the Rt Hon Speaker Jacob Oulanyah,” noted Akol.
“What step did you take as LoP?”
Hours earlier, Mpuuga had also been engaged in a war of words with former MP and Besigye man Mubarak Munyagwa. (Read Story Here).
