Mukono Municipality MP Betty Bakireke Nambooze of opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) has told NBS Television CEO Kin Kariisa that he has to rein in on show guests or risk seeing several programs go into the dustbin of history.
During Tuesday, August 24 Barometer show hosted by Zambaali Blasio Mukasa, junior minister for microfinance Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo and Kasambya MP David Kabanda ganged up against Nambooze.
For example, Kabanda told Nambooze she was intoxicated with some strange substances which she took while pretending to sip tea.
“Do I look drunk to you?” fumed Nambooze as she rose from her seat and walked around in response to Kabanda’s utterances.
Nambooze claimed NRM panelists such as Kabanda had trivialized the show.
But Kabanda reminded Nambooze it was opposition people like her that had made the show look cheap by making unacceptable statements such as when the Mukono Municipality MP labelled promoter Balaam Barugahara a “useful idiot.”
Kabanda even claimed that Nambooze and others were no longer in the struggle after getting juicy positions such as being committee chairpersons.
Minister Kasolo also didn’t spare Nambooze.
He argued that the Dr Kizza Besigye-led FDC opposition in Parliament was well researched and articulate compared to that of the Bobi Wine-led NUP.
After the show, Nambooze urged Kariisa to do something about panelists who insult others.
She swore not to leave Barometer just like former minister Miria Matembe left NBS Frontline.
“Character assassination is what Ofwono did to Matembe. Matembe left and the show is steadily becoming a shadow of its former self. And it’s all mockery to call the discussion on NBS on Thursday a Frontline. In fact that show should be baptized PEACE- TALKS,” said Nambooze.
“On my side Teri Kuzikiza [I won’t leave, I can’t give up.”
