Police in Kampala has arrested a man for reportedly planting what had earlier been believed to be a bomb in Wandegeya.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the man buried a package and took off, leaving people in panic.
But the bomb squad has since confirmed that the package contained clothes and polythene bags.
“It is alleged that some one came and dug around the KCCA gardens opposite the police station and buried something suspicious, he later fled the scene,” said Owoyesigyire.
“Upon getting this information we called our experts from Bomb squad who have un-earthed what had been buried and recovered polythene bags and clothes.”
The deputy police publicist has since confirmed that the man has behind the bomb scare has been arrested.
“The person suspected to have buried them has also been arrested after CCTV cameras detected him at the scene . The situation is now under control,” said Owoyesigyire.
