Violence: Diplomat Injured after Angry ‘Protester’ Breaks Uganda House New York Door Glass Following Parliament’s Anti-Homosexuality Bill Nod

A suspected ‘protester’ has smashed the glass of a door at the Uganda House based in New York in the United States after Uganda’s Parliament passed the 2023 Anti-Homosexuality Bill.

Adonia Ayebare, Uganda’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) said there were reports that the angry individual could have been protesting the passing of the Anti-Homosexuality Bill.

“To early to establish the motive, but the individual was reportedly angry about the Bill passed by UG Parliament on LGBT,” wrote Ambassador Ayebare.

He also revealed that a South Sudanese diplomat, who was one of the tenants in the building, sustained injuries.

Ayebare described the incident as ‘violent’ but was optimistic the individual would be apprehended since cameras at the premises were working and recorded what happened.

“Violent incident at Uganda House New York, an individual yet to be identified damaged a glass of a rear entrance door and injured a South Sudanese Diplomat (tenants). The police is on the scene, fortunately our CCTV cameras captured the incident,” added Ayebare.
