The Minister of Works and Transport Gen Edward Katumba Wamala has reportedly directed Uganda Airlines to suspend a number of staff after a video of a man vending grasshoppers or nsenene on a flight went viral.
In the video, the man is seen handing nsenene snacks to passengers in the economy class.
He is heard saying each pack costs Shs10,000.
Some of the passengers are even lining up for the nsenene delicacy.
The video has dominated social media debate in the past hours, with Ugandans mocking the national carrier.
Now, some reports have indicated that Minister Katumba Wamala has ordered the suspension of staff accused of being negligent for allowing a vendor on a plane.
“About the video making rounds on social media of someone vending Nsenene aboard Uganda Airlines, I have spoken to the leadership of the airline to take action against the staff who were in charge when this happened,” tweeted Katumba Wamala.
It was not readily clear who had been suspended.
