Deputy speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has revealed that a road will be named after fallen businessman Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige aka BMK.
BMK succumbed to cancer on September 10.
On September 11 night, Deputy Speaker Among visited BMK family members in Naguru.
Today, she attended the burial of the tycoon, who owned a string of business (including Hotel Africana), at Salaam Muslim Cemetery Nkoowe in Wakiso District.
In her remarks during the funeral, Among, who is also the Bukedea District Woman MP, promised to rally fellow legislators to move and pass a motion to name one of the roads/streets after BMK.
“As Parliament of Uganda, we agreed that we should not kill the name BMK. Instead of having streets in names like William, etc. — people we do not know — we should pass a motion and have a street named BMK,” she said.
Among saluted Gen Katumba Wamala, who represented President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni at the burial, saying although she was senior to him, he respected him as an elder.
She then invited the MPs in attendance to come forward.
Among challenged mourners to change their behaviors and touch people’s lives so that they can be loved and celebrated in a massive way like BMK has been.
