NRM chairman President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni recently told Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s NUP coordinators that veteran opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye was a knowledgeable man, unlike some of his colleagues that criticize Government.

But in that same meeting, Museveni admitted that Besigye, his bush war personal physician and fiercest critic this far, is a knowledgeable person.
His only problem, Museveni continued, was that Besigye has misused his knowledge to mislead young people.
“Besigye knows something about society but he uses [this knowledge] to mislead you,” Museveni told Bobi Wine’s NUP coordinators.
For the first time in two decades, Besigye declined to stand in a presidential election.
Bobi Wine emerged as Museveni’s closest opponent, polling 35 per cent of the just over 10 million votes cast in the January 14 election.
Museveni’s statements have been interpreted by some in the Besigye camp to mean that while the president might be currently dealing with Bobi Wine’s NUP wave, he likely still considers Dr Besigye his main challenger.
According to Besigye’s aide Ronald Muhinda, Museveni fears his former bush war comrade because of his ideological grounding in the struggle.
“President Kizza Besigye didn’t contest. But Museveni still fears the son of Kifefe.Why? Because Museveni know Besigye does not only know the formation, sustainence and transformation of society, but also good governance that Museveni and his NRMilitary junta have starved Uganda,” wrote Muhinda.
“And Museveni knows Besigye is an Ideologue whose ascension to power to transform Uganda he has always violently stopped.”
