House of Prayer Ministries International (HPMI) lead pastor Aloysius Bujjingo has told his congregation that first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba will succeed his father Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni whether Ugandans want or not.
According to Bujjingo, history is replete with of scenarios where children succeeded their parents in political offices.
He seems to believe that the stage has been set for Lt Gen Kainerugaba, the commander of UPDF Land Forces, to succeed his father.
He has since advised the youth in his church not to dare join protests to oppose any plan by Museveni to help his son succeed him.
“To you the young people in this service and those listening to me, you will be beaten if you oppose Muhoozi’s march to the presidency. Do not allow to be beaten as those you claim to fight for are escorted to their homes,” preached Bujjingo.
“There are several precedents that have been set. I am not a prophet but Muhoozi will be president whether you want it or not; so do not be clobbered for no reason.”
Since renegade UPDF General David Tinyefuuza (Sejusa) claimed there was a plan to ensure that Kainerugaba succeeds Museveni in what he called ‘Muhoozi Project,’ the first son’s name has featured severally in debates on the transition from Uganda’s long-serving president.
