Outgoing deputy speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah has told reporters he has no problem becoming a backbencher in the 11th Parliament if he loses the crucial May 24 speaker election.
On May 20, Oulanyah took oath of office as Omoro County MP.

He is seeking to replace Rebecca Kadaga as speaker.
After swearing-in as MP, Oulanyah told reporters his most important assignment was the one for which he took oath today: to represent the people of Omoro County in Parliament.
“Everything else is a bonus,” he said.
He also revealed that whether he is speaker or not, he will actively participate in efforts to restore public confidence in the institution of Parliament.
But Oulanyah is rumored to be on the list of politicians who could be appointed Vice president or prime minister.
