VIDEO: Bobi Wine Begs US President Biden to Stop Supporting Museveni Regime

Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, the National Unity Platform (NUP) leader, has asked US President Joe Biden and his administration to stop funding President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s government.

Speaking to CNN on the Kayunga LCV byelection shocking defeat, Bobi Wine asked the US to freeze funding to Kampala.

“We would really hope that the United States, a respectable democracy, doesn’t become a partner in crime with the military dictatorship of Uganda,” Bobi Wine told Zain Asher.

“My message to president Biden is that Uganda appreciates the relationship with America but we would really appreciate to see that US — a respectable democracy — is not seen as a partner in crime with a military dictatorship in Uganda,” Bobi Wine told Zain Asher.

“While we share values of democracy, Human rights rule of law, it should be a precondition of corporation otherwise it would be a partnership in crime and oppression.”

He also argued that “it is in the interest of the world and development partners not to continue supporting such fraud because Uganda is a clear military dictatorship and it is unfortunate to see that world democracies are busy seen to hobnob with a known dictator who has no respect for rule of law.”

According to available records from the US Embassy in Uganda, the US extended financial assistance to the tune of $953m to Kampala in the year 2020.

Of this amount, $517m went to health; $206m to refugee support, $13m to democracy and justice and $60m to agriculture and other interventions to support economic growth.
