Forest Mall Lugogo Drew & Jacs dance party
A video said to have been taken at Forest Mall Lugogo hangout Drew & Jacs has appeared online showing revelers enjoying themselves in total disregard of Covid19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Weeks ago, President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni eased the Covid19 lockdown.
Entertainment centres are still closed, and have never officially been reopened since 2020.
When the video was shared online, Ugandans, including Ministry of Health (MoH) spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyoona, have expressed their anger.
Ainebyoona challenged police to take action.
“This hangout at Forest Mall will be among the things that will drive us to the Covid19 3rd wave,” said the MoH spokesperson.
“Police, please implement the statutory instrument by the Minister of Health.”
Previous attempts to close Forest Mall over non-compliance have failed.
