Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Dr Douglas Singiza has directed the medical superintendent of Kitalya/Kigo Prisons to carry out a medical examination on remanded novelist Kakwenza Rukirabashaija who lawyers and family said was “very sick.”
On January 11, court charged Kakwenza with disturbing President Museveni and son’s peace. (Read story here).
Now, Dr Singiza has ordered that a medical report on Kakwenza’s health be presented before court at the next hearing.
That will be about 10 days away.
“Having heard the complaint of the accused person before me that he is very sick; it is hereby ordered that; the accused person (Kakwenza Rukirabashaija) be subjected to medical examination by prison authorities to ascertain his health status and thereafter furnish to this Court at next court hearing,” the magistrate ordered.
