Bishop Stuart University (BSU) vice chancellor Professor Mauda Kamatenesi Mugisha asked BSU community to support National Resistance movement government in the coming elections since they have been given a charter by the regime.
Kamatenesi whoa was addressing students at the swearing in of the new BSU guild council at the University Chapel said those who do not support the government, they do not want to see progress of the nation.
”For us who come from the greater Bushenyi we support movement. Why would you put on resistance all the time? Support so that we can see progress, am not saying this because am campaigning, no. But I speak the truth” said Kamatenesi
Kamatenesi credits government through the ministry of education and sports for supporting the university through giving them a charter and Uganda shillings 375m to build a library as well as Science laboratory.
”Me my request is simple. Support government and government has supported Bishop Stuart University. You are all studying from a chartered University, do you know what it means to have a charter? Some of you do not understand.” Kamatenesi said ”… And who signs the Charter H.E the president of the Republic of Uganda. Now that means a lot. Are you aware that this library you see here we have shs 375m from government if it was not for corona, we would have finished it?”
Kamatenesi thanked the outgoing Guild council for being transparent and accountable since they never mishandled or swindled any money. ”The outgoing government never had issues of money they did well and you know it is hard to trust young people with money but they were trust worthy, the only problem we had with them was getting involved in other politics outside the university”
Abaho Wilson Mugisha who is an NRM supporter was elected 2020/2021 BSU guild president on December 19th and took over from FDC’s Bainomugisha Denmark Adios who has been at the helm during 2019/2020 academic year.
