Revealed: Doctors explain why Lord Mayor Lukwago collapsed during Archbishop Lwanga Lubaga Cathedral requiem mass

Deputy Kampala Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura says her boss Erias Lukwago is out of danger after he collapsed during requiem mass for fallen Kampala Archdiocese Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga at Lubaga Cathedral on Monday, April 05.

Aides carried Lukwago from the VIP section of the cathedral, and driven to hospital.

“This afternoon, while attending the requiem mass of the Late Archbishop of Kampala Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, the Lord Mayor felt some discomfort and requested his aide to drive him to Rubaga Hospital for check up,” said Nyanjura in a statement.

“Upon diagnosis, it was found that his sugar levels had gone down.”

Nyanjura added that Lukwago was “doing quite well” and out of hospital.

“He was given first aid to which he responded very well. Consequently he was discharged and advised to go home and rest,” she continued.

“I have checked on him and he is doing quite well. The Office of the Lord Mayor appreciates your prayers and best wishes for his good health.”

Lukwago left a Nairobi hospital months ago.

On return, after spending weeks in hospital, he embarked on a re-election campaign, retaining the Lord Mayor position.
