UPDATE on First Lady Janet Museveni Health Condition as President ‘Directs’ Minister Aceng

Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has given an update on the health condition of his wife, first lady and education minister Janet Kataaha Kainembabazi Museveni, issuing a directive to health minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng to clarify on the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid19) through touching of soft parts.

Days ago, Museveni told the nation that first lady Janet was sick with Covid19 and under self-isolation so as not to spread the deadly virus to other people and family members. The president had to cancel appearance at events he expected to attend with the first lady.

Now, the president has given another update on his wife Janet Museveni’s health condition. Museveni said doctors had drawn samples from the first lady and taken them for testing in Mbarara City.

According to Museveni, results from the tests have indicated that Janet is now free from Covid19.

“Good news: Maama Janet has defeated Coronavirus. This morning, her samples were sent to Mbarara and they were all negative. Thank you for your prayers,” revealed the president.

He also said he had tested negative for Covid19, posting the same results as had been the case on Boxing Day.

“Two days ago, I checked, again, for corona and the results were negative like they were on the 26th of December, 2023,” he said.

“Maama is now out of self-isolation. She fought bravely. Praised be the Lord.”

He then asked Minister Aceng to offer details on the spread of coronavirus through touching of soft parts.

“The doctors are now saying that corona spreads more through touching yourself on the soft parts of the body (the eyes, the nose, the mouth, etc.) with infected hands than even through breathing. Is it true? Hon. Jane Aceng, please clarify to all,” wrote Museveni.

“To watch are the door-handles, tables, arm-chairs that need to be sanitized and documents and, of course, the unnecessary hand shaking.”
