Remigio Achia Chokon of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has sailed through to the 11th Parliament unopposed as Pian County MP after his rival Charles Adome of the National Unity Platform (NUP) pulled out of the race, prompting the Nabilatuk District returning officer to announce a winner weeks to the January 14 election.
On December 23, Nabilatuk District returning officer Angella Jolly Lokutae wrote to Electoral Commission (EC) chairperson Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama and commission secretary Leonard Mulekwah declaring Achia unopposed.
Over a dozen NRM MPs are unopposed.
