Uneb Sets Date, New Venue for Special PLE Mathematics Paper

Assessment body Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) has set a date when a special Mathematics paper will be administered for 23 P7 candidates of St Christine Primary School who missed it over transport constraints.

The candidates, who had registered to sit their national final exams at Mpasana Primary School since their school did not have a Uneb Centre Number, missed the Mathematics Paper after their director switched off his phones yet he had promised to offer them transport means to Mpasana.

With their school director disappearing and unreachable, the candidates walked for about 15km from St Christine Primary School but arrived at the Mpasana Primary School centre over an hour late. They were then turned away because Uneb rules bar late comers from sitting the national exam papers.

After the incident, the children cried out to Uneb and the Museveni government to set a special paper for them since the circumstances that made them miss the exam were beyond their control. Education Minister and First Lady Janet Kataaha Kainembabazi Museveni would then hold a consultative meeting with Uneb officials over the matter.

During the meeting, it was “agreed that that considering the exceptional circumstances under which the vulnerable candidates missed their examination after fulfilling the requirements, the board administers another mathematics paper to the affected candidates.” (See Details Here).

Now, Uneb has set Wednesday, November 30, 2022 as the date when the candidates will sit the special mathematics paper. The paper will be administered at Kyakuterekera Primary School starting at 9m. Kyakuterekera Primary School is located about 4km from these candidates’ school: St Christine Primary School.

Although the candidates will sit their special Mathematics Paper at Kyakuterekera Primary School, their sitting Uneb centre will still be marked as Mpasana Primary School.
