Thousands of candidates and parents across the country will have to wait a little bit longer before knowing the results of the 2022 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), sources at the Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) have told The Pearl Times.
The results for the examinations, which were conducted in November 2022, were largely expected to be released this week, but this publication has learnt that the final processes that normally precede the release have not been concluded.
When he met Parliament’s education committee last week, Uneb executive secretary and director Dan Odongo revealed that the marking of the PLE papers written by hundreds of thousands of candidates had been concluded and that the board’s security committee would soon meet to decide the fate of those who engaged in alleged examination malpractice.
Thereafter, Uneb was supposed to brief Janet Kataaha Kainembabazi Museveni, the Ugandan first lady and minister of education and sports, before the official release of the results could be made. (Read Story Here).
Uneb is required to brief the minister at least two days before the release. The Pearl Times understands that officials from the assessment body are yet to brief Minister Janet Museveni on the performance of the end of primary education examinations.
Sources have told us that Uneb officials have not yet secured an appointment with the Ugandan first lady and education minister who was said to have a very tight schedule. But there were hopes that the appointment would soon be fixed for sometime next week.
Once this has been done, a date for the 2022 PLE results release will be agreed upon and a public announcement made. For now, the wait will continue until the final processes have been concluded.
