Assessment body Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) has confirmed dates for 2021 Primary, Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations.
The confirmation of examination dates comes two months after the resumption of learning for finalists and candidates.
On September 20, President Yoweri Museveni allowed schools to reopen after more than six months of closure of education institutions as a way of preventing the spread of Covid19.
Museveni allowed an estimated 1.2 million learners who are in candidate classes and their final years at various education institutions.
The rest of the country’s 15 million learners are expected to return to school next year.
According to Uneb executive secretary Dan Odongo, the examination period will run from March through May 2021, as The Pearl Times reported in September 2020.
PLE will start on March 30 and end on March 31; UCE exams will run from March 01 to April 06; while UACE candidates will sit their papers from April 12 through May 03.
- PLE: March 30 – March 31, 2021
- UCE: March 01 – April 06, 2021
- UACE: April 12 – May 03, 2021
Odongo also revealed that the number of candidates had increased by almost four per cent.
“A total of 1,181 ,666 candidates have registered for all the three levels compared to one million, one hundred and thirty eight thousand candidates (1,138,000), who registered last year. This represents a percentage increase of 3.8% in total candidature,” Odongo noted.
Head teachers have now been asked to display the registers for candidates to make amendments in case of any errors such in names, dates of birth, photograph mismatches, name spellings and order, gender, subjects and papers offered, institutional choices as well as funding codes.
PLE candidates seeking to make changes have been advised to download an amendment form from the Uneb portal while their UCE and UACE counterparts are expected to file a request to Uneb.
The deadline for amendments is the end of the school term.
