Assessment body Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) has spoken out on social media reports that there were errors in some end of O-level Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) papers and that there will a supplementary exam for the same.

Reports had claimed that Uneb would cancel the already sat Physics papers and cause all candidates to return to their examination centers and sit a supplementary paper.

But the examinations body’s spokesperson Jennifer Kalule-Musamba has said dismissed the reports on social media platforms as “some misleading propaganda” and “fake information.”

Kalule-Musamba has explained that the papers went through a thorough process that would not allow such errors to go through the sieve.

“We would like once again to assure the nation that there was no error in any of the UNEB Examination papers, at any of the levels. All the test items for the Board’s examination papers passed through a rigorous validity test and as such no such error was experienced,” she said.

“We hereby reiterate that UNEB conducts valid, reliable, equitable and quality assessment of learners’ achievement in a professional and innovative manner, for the award of internationally recognised certificates.”

She said security agencies had started hunting for the cyber criminals behind the spread of the fake information. “We want to assure the public Board is working with the police to investigate and establish the source of the misleading information, and once found, the culprits will be brought to book,” said the Uneb spokesperson.

Meanwhile, all Uneb exams will end on December 01.
