Jacob Kiplimo won the Lisbon Half Marathon on Sunday, November 21, 2021, to set a new world record.
The Olympic 10,000m bronze medalist clocked 57:31, one second better than what Kibiwott Kandie set in Valencia in December 2020.
In March 2020, Kiplimo outshone Kandie in Poland to become the reigning half marathon world champion.
He not only defended this title yesterday, but also set a new record.
Huseydin Mohamed Esa came second.
Through Tsehay Gemechu Beyan, who crossed finish line 1:06:06, Ethiopia won the women’s race.
