All is set for the release of the results of the 2022 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) Examination today, Thursday February 09, 2023, at State House, Nakasero in the capital Kampala.
The release event is expected to start at 11am, with invited guests to what Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, the Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) Principal Public Relations Officer (PPRO), called a “highly scientific function” expected to start arriving by 9am.
First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, will preside over the UCE 2022 results release exercise. Uneb’s Kalule-Musamba said the function will be broadcast and streamed live on a number public radio and TV stations as well as the assessment body’s social media platforms.
Available figures indicate that a total of 349,459 candidates registered for the examination at 4,185 Examination Centres compared to 333,396 candidates that registered for the last UCE examination of 2020, indicating an increase of 16,063 in candidature. up to 50.3 per cent of the registered candidates were males, while 49.7 per cent were females.
“The Uneb Executive Director [and Secretary], Mr. Dan Odongo, is expected to reveal the number of the candidates that actually sat for the examination compared to those that registered for the same, as well as the general comparative performance, and performance by gender,” noted Kalule-Musamba.
She also guided on how parents, candidates and school heads will have access to the results following the release exercise.
“Parents, candidates and other interested parties may access results immediately after release through the Short Message Services (SMS) on their telephone handsets. One will be required to know the full Index Number of the candidate, go to the Message menu on the Phone, type UCE, leave space, type full index Number, then send to 6600,” she said.
“Head teachers and school directors can access the results from their various school portals. They will later be advised on when start collecting the hard copies of the results from the UNEB offices.”
The UCE 2022 release exercise will put to end allegations that the Uneb system had been hacked into and O-level results lost. (Read Story Here).
