TRUTH REVEALED: Did Bobi Wine Really Fear to Attend Jacob Oulanyah Burial as Alleged by Kabanda?

Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s NUP camp has spoken out on reports that the singer-turned-politician was in Gulu City on April but feared to go to Omoro for the burial of former speaker Jacob Oulanyah L’Okori.

Oulanyah was laid to rest in Omoro District on April 08. (Read Story Here).

During the burial ceremony, Oulanyah’s father Nathan Okori insisted that his son was poisoned. (Read Story Here).

Mzee Okori also claimed that some people want to grab the former speaker’s land. (Read Story Here).

At the event, a number of party presidents were present. But NRM’s Museveni and NUP’s Bobi Wine were absent.

Museveni was in Nairobi for an event where DR Congo was officially welcomed to the East African Community (EAC).

Regarding Bobi Wine’s absence, Kashambya MP David Kabanda of the NRM claimed that the NUP leader was in Gulu City but feared to proceed to Omoro for the burial.

“I am aware Hon Kyagulanyi was in Gulu yesterday but feared to attend burial in Omoro. He plans to commiserate with the family today,” claimed Kabanda.

“The late taught us the spirit of Ubuntu, We don’t heckle or embarrass fellow mourners irrespective of our differences. We welcome him to Omoro.”

But NUP secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya insisted Kabanda was wrong.

“Liars! [NUP] President Bobi Wine arrived 10pm from Geneva last night aboard Brussels airlines. Headed to Gulu this morning,” said Rubongoya.

“At the burial, NUP was well represented by LOP, DP North, MPs etc.”

Bobi Wine has also revealed that he has since delivered his condolences to Oulanyah’s family.

“Upon my return to Uganda last night, I travelled straight to Gulu to personally deliver my condolences to the family, the people and leadership of Acholi. I was humbled to be received by the prime minister of Acholi this morning and hosted to lunch by the elders. Priceless!” said Bobi Wine.

Bobi Wine’s NUP supporters had protested in the US over the airlifting of Oulanyah to Seattle.

This angered Acholi leaders such as Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo who rebuked Baganda for keeping quiet when their Kabaka is flown abroad for treatment, but made noise when Oulanyah was rushed to the United States. (Read Story Here).

Bobi Wine responded to Owiny-Dollo by telling him not to divert Ugandans from finding out what exactly killed Oulanyah.

But the chief justice later apologized to the Kabaka and Baganda. (Read Story Here).
