A section of Ugandans on social media have described President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s latest UPDF promotions and appointments as an act of tribalism.
According to army spokesperson Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye, Gen Museveni, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the UPDF, has promoted Col Charity Bainabaabo to the rank of Brig Gen and appointed her deputy commandant of the Special Forces Command (SFC).
Gen Museveni also promoted Col David Mugisha to the rank of Brigadier General (Brig Gen) and appointed him second in command of the Third Division.
Lt Col Nathan Nabimanya has been promoted to the rank of colonel (Col) and appointed Commandant of SFG.
Bainabaabo, Mugisha and Nabimanya are believed to be from one region of Uganda.
