State Minister for Karamoja Affairs Agness Nandutu has presented herself before Police Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) headquarters at Kibuli in the capital Kampala for interrogation over her role in the Karamoja iron sheets (mabaati) scandal.

Nandutu had snubbed police summons to appear for quizzing last week, according to Uganda Police Force (UPF) spokesperson Fred Enanga. There were reports that Nandutu, a former reporter for NTV Uganda, had gone into hiding to avoid being nabbed like two other ministers: her boss and immediate supervisor Dr Mary Goretti Kitutu, and junior finance (planning) minister Amos Lugoloobi).

While Kitutu was recently granted bail after spending some days behind bars, Lugoloobi was on Monday, April 17, denied bail at the Anti-Corruption Court. He returns to the temple of justice on Thursday, April 20 for his bail application hearing and determination.

Now, Nandutu is in the hands of police officers. It is not clear if she will be detained awaiting her production in the Anti-Corruption Court but it is highly likely since she had reportedly snubbed summons.

Nearly 10 ministers and MPs are said to be expected to face arrest and prosecution over the Karamoja iron sheets scandal.

Meanwhile, President Museveni has revealed what will happen to his ministers named in the mabaati theft scandal. (See Details Here).
