Presidency minister Milly Babirye Babalanda is on the spot over accusations that she appointer her ‘husband’, brother and children as RDCs.
Appointed to Museveni’s cabinet in June 2021, Babalanda is one of the most powerful ministers. (Read Story Here).
Part of this influence and power is reflected in her role in the appointment of new Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), Resident City Commissioners (RCCs) and their deputies.
Babalanda also plays a pivotal role in other key appointments in the presidency for which she is minister.
Recently, Museveni’s office released the list of new RDCs, RCCs and their deputies. (Read Story Here).
But three names on the list caught the eye of those who claim to know the minister better: George Magunda, Naome Nakawala and Peter Mawerere.
Magunda is said to be Babalanda’s brother and is the RDC for Budaka.
Nakawala, believed to be her daughter, is the deputy RCC for Mbale while Mawerere, said to be Nakawala’s father, is the new deputy RDC for Kayunga.
Minister Babalanda is yet to come out to address the allegations. The Pearl Times could not independently verify the identities of Mawerere, Magunda and Nakawala and their relationship with the minister.
