When he recently ran into trouble with Kenyans over the ‘Nairobi Capture’ threat, Ugandan first son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba referred to the officers as his soldiers and members of his army.
While some had thought that he meant his ‘army of supporters,’ Muhoozi has explained that for the time he has been Commander of the UPDF Land Forces, he has actually been referring to the national army’s soldiers as his.
On Monday, Muhoozi was decorated as a full general of the national army for which his father Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni is the Commander-in-Chief. Muhoozi’s uncle Gen Caleb Akandwanaho aka Salim Saleh, and the first son’s wife Charlotte Nankunda Kutesa Kainerugaba decorated Museveni’s child as an officer of the UPDF’s highest rank.
Thereafter, Muhoozi’s supporters and promoters were hosted to two parties: one at Bombo Military Grounds and the other at Skyz Hotel.
At Bombo, Muhoozi revealed his plan for the youths and hinted on what’s next for him. (Read Story Here).
At Skyz Hotel, Muhoozi sought to explain why he calls UPDF officers his children.
He said that the soldiers under his command are like his children and that he is like their father.
“Now that President Yoweri Museveni has given me a chance — as my fellow commanders were saying I am someone who is very passionate, I was very passionate about the army, you all saw me,” said Muhoozi.
“I used to call them my soldiers. People would say ‘why are you calling them your soldiers. They are not your soldiers.’ No, it’s because I love them. If a commander says it’s the nation’s soldiers, that means you have not taken responsibility for them. A commander is like a father of his soldiers. Do you say ‘the children of the home?’ How do you call your children?”
Gen Salim Saleh also revealed how Muhoozi saved him when his father Museveni wanted to throw him into prison. (Read Story Here).
Meanwhile, Muhoozi’s eyes seem set on becoming Uganda’s President according to a recent revelation. (See Details Here).
