The ministry of Health on Monday apologized for exaggerating the number of Ugandans who had succumbed to Covid-19 in a single day.
The officials on Friday night had indicated that 14 people had died of the virus on Thursday (November 5th,2020) the highest fatality figure to have ever been reported in a single day since March this year when the virus was confirmed in Uganda.
However, the ministry’s spokesperson, Mr Emmanuel Ainebyoona today clarified that the deaths had occurred in four separate days.
“We have since established that these 14 deaths didn’t happen in a single day but were spread across four days. We regret the inaccuracy,” he tweeted.
Mr Ainebyoona reminded the population to wear facemasks, observe social distancing guidelines as well wash hands regularly to avoid contracting the deadly virus.
Uganda has recorded 14,403 Covid-19 cases, 132 deaths, and 7,771 recoveries as of November 8, 2020.
